John J. Barber (Jack) joined Tabet DiVito & Rothstein in 2005. His practice focuses on general commercial litigation, professional liability, and various legal issues faced by accounting and consulting professionals and firms. He is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Northern District of Indiana, and Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Barber earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School in 2005. He studied in Notre Dame’s London Law Programme, and represented the Law School in the 2004 Jessup International Moot Court Competition. He also interned at the Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic, where he won judgments for his clients in Indiana state court and federal administrative proceedings.
Before attending law school, Mr. Barber worked as an accountant and litigation consultant at two major accounting and consulting firms, where he was extensively involved in audit work as well as forensic accounting, damages analysis, and similar matters.
Mr. Barber earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame with majors in Accounting and Philosophy. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Illinois.
Mr. Barber serves on the Board of Directors of Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Service Systems, Inc., parent company of the Barber National Institute, which provides comprehensive services to more than 3,000 developmentally disabled children and adults, and their families. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
