Melody focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation. She has represented a variety of individuals and businesses in matters involving breach of contract, breach of non-compete provisions, mergers and acquisitions, legal malpractice, trade secret misappropriation, copyright infringement, employee benefits denials, and business torts. Her experience in both federal and state courts includes a wide range of litigation services at all stages of litigation, from initial case investigation to appeals. She has successfully briefed dispositive motions, argued motions in court, handled all aspects of discovery (including expert discovery), deposed key witnesses, and negotiated favorable settlements for clients.
Melody graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law magna cum laude in May 2015. While in law school, Melody served as a Notes and Comments editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review. Melody also served as a Vice President of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society and won first place and the best brief award at the 2014 McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition. In addition, Melody served as a legal writing Teaching Assistant and externed in the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Before law school, Melody graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a major in Biology and a minor in Law and Society.
Melody is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and California. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association. She also serves on the board of the Chicago Lawyers’ Chapter of the American Constitution Society.
